A few years back, our friends got married in wine country. We had never been to Northern California and made sure to visit AS MANY vineyards and wineries as possible. We rented a bus and scoured for miles. I mean, we had to do our due diligence, right? Our very first stop was Domaine Carneros. Pretty tough view to top. But it turns out that our favorite was right down the road from our hotel in the tiny town of Calistoga – T-Vine Winery.
T-Vine isn’t like most wineries. Officially, since 1992, they’ve scoured California in search of the state’s last heritage vineyards on a mission to offer flavors and stories unlike any remaining in the world. Unofficially, it’s cute and fun and delicious and we joined. It’s a uniquely intimate location that we wish we would have found on Day One instead of Day Four.
Wine has become something my husband and I can now share. Thankfully we have similar palettes. Having a collection of nice wine makes us feel a bit like grownups. During the week, I’ll open a $10 bottle (check out our previous blog on my favorite cheaper wines), but for special occasions we have something dry and flavorful that always makes us a little nostalgic for such a fun trip together.
If you’re a true Zinfandel fan, I would suggest ordering some T-Vine Winery and checking out if you think it’s a good addition to your collection. They have a lot of varieties, but the Zin is a definite favorite. Oh, and check out the Mixed Blacks. And you’re welcome.
Cheers,
Jana
