Growing up, my life was all about music. Singing, performing, piano – every available hour was spent practicing, rehearsing, in lessons or on stage. I lived in five states by the time I found “home” in Atlanta, GA. It was there I discovered the Miss Georgia Pageant. I won multiple titles, awards and scholarship around the state; simultaneously, attending SMU in Dallas, Texas, (where I met both my blogging partner in crime, Kelley, and my husband, Scott) on an Opera scholarship.
However, I am also a lover of all things shopping and styling. Finding just the right pieces to put together a look is a skill and something I’ve worked at for years. I spent my twenties in New York City, working as a backstage dresser during Bryant Park Fashion Week and as a personal shopper and stylist. After relocating back to Dallas, I opened my own clothing boutique, capping off the experience after 8 years with being recognized as a Best Women’s Boutique.
After being diagnosed with Adult Onset, Autoimmune, Type-1 Diabetes at age 29, I also discovered a love for the kitchen. Re-learning food and how it affects the body has turned into a passion for healthy living. As I approach 40, I incorporate essential oils more and more into my anti-aging routine. From beauty treatments to household cleaners, not a day goes by that I don’t use essential oils.
Scott and I love experimenting with recipes and flavors or trying out the newest restaurants. We live in an old home built in the 1920s in a neighborhood called Cochran Heights. We are constantly working on home renovation projects or playing in the yard with our rescued fur baby #parkerthewonderpup. And we never miss an SMU game.
